The FDA Has Spoken, The Electronic Cigarette Industry Has Been Given Four Years to Prove its Case

The FDA has spoken today; as of now it looks like the electronic cigarette industry can take a breath and build a strong case in the mean time. The FDA announcement has emphasized that they understand nicotine is the problem and solution. Todays announcement focused on a variety of topics and mainly focused on the addictive aspect of tobacco use. They mention that tobacco related products are harmful because they are addictive. However they also emphasized that the form of nicotine delivery in E- Cigarettes can be a step closer to harm reduction. Although this may not seem like the answer everyone wanted to hear, it still is a huge improvement; The FDA is open to hearing the public, along with analyzing scientific data to create laws and regulation better fit for the American public.

Although nicotine is addictive it is no where near as toxic as tar or other components of cigarettes, which is why we as an industry say that e-cigarettes are harm reduction. A good analogy is caffeine; if someone has coffee with multiple scoops of sugar and sweetener it can cause negative effects, however the caffeine itself is no where near as harmful, it is simply a stimulant. That is why it is very important to understand which components have negative effects, and with that in mind to create a product which promotes a healthier alternative.

The FDA has also mentioned that it will look to the public to understand the effects of flavors and that it will make adjustments to regulations in four years. This is actually a good thing because they mention how they will also look into how flavored e-cigarettes can play a role in helping smokers make the switch to healthier alternatives. All in all we have been given four more years, and what we as community in this industry do will ultimately affect the future of vaping.

  1. I would love to talk to the FDA about this!

Hello, I’m Nana a 36 year, one pack a day smoker. The beginning of the end came in the spring of 2017. We in Oklahoma were faced with a $1.50 per pack tax that was supposed to take effect Sept 2017 (not sure where that’s at) but I drew the line in my sandbox and said this is it,, I MUST quit for reals this time! Then my 20 yr old daughter was given a Smok Q Box as a birthday gift. She let me try it and I didn’t cough at all, plus it tasted kinda good. I already had an eGo pen that personally felt it was lackluster at best, total waste of money for me. But this Q Box was my answer so I thought. So off to vape shop I went…

I purchased three e-juices, Smok G Priv, batteries, battery charger, and extra coils. I was set right? Nope! Nothing was right except my mod itself. Multiple e-juices later and still something was off. At another shop, the owner suggested I try the Aspire Cleito 120. I probably should add that I am ADHD and OCD, so I was on a mission!! OMG! This tank was apples and oranges to my Big Baby tank and the flavors off the chain. Its a leaky lil thing, but total trade off for flavor. I’m not a cloud chaser and that’s not my intent for vaping.

But due to me raising my very small grand twins, having a big mod isn’t really practical for me personally. So I bought a Smok Priv V8 and had it one day then my daughter took it and left me her Q Box lol. Its all good, shes not smoking cigarettes! I just needed something concealable and easily portable ~ purse wise. Something that the twins couldn’t easily get their hands on as they are only 4 yrs old.

Then yesterday going after e- juice I made another very large purchase. I had already figured out Smok coils are yucky to me and had a feeling that I am literally tasting the cotton, no lie. So I had switch over to Vaporesso coils and that mostly took care of the issue in both the Big Baby and Baby tanks. But I wanted more flavor because for whatever reason most e-juices taste horrid to me. I’m also suffer from Hyperosmia and to those who don’t believe those of us who say, “we continue to smoke because of heightened sense of smell” tell my migraines that I have two medications for,, its all in my head!!!

I dropped my G Priv and kinda messed it up, so I purchased a Revenger, then I also got a Blazer Pro tank. While this tank is amazing for flavor,, its a bit much ha ha. I think I just need to get more Cleito 120s,, Aspire could you fix the leaks please???

I gave my new bottle of ejuice (Beard #24) to my daughter and went to get another for me. It literally stops my nicotine cravings. I’m not trying to be funny as I keep it in the Baby tank on the Q Box and if a craving hits,, 3 puffs and I’m good to go. So I asked them today about the Cleito tank for the Q Box and they wholeheartedly said yes, this is what I should buy. That it is simply a smaller version of the Cleito 120 and I would get the same satisfying results. So my next purchase will be definitely more Cleito 120 and Cleito tanks. I’m rather impressed at how my 120 isn’t juice thirsty like the other two.

And in summation, August 12th I smoked the last two cigarettes I had and I am not looking back. Thank you Aspire for helping me to realize my dream of quitting cigarettes for ever! For me its all about the flavor and am only using 3mg e-juices. Without the flavor this would a bust or super struggle at best for me. Without my Cleito 120 I couldn’t properly taste the e-juices I was purchasing.

The smell is most likely from certain medicines. I got it from adhd meds long term, I was on the second floor and asked why did the house smell metallic? Everyone thought I was nuts until I walked into the kitchen and the sink was being cleaned with a brillo pad. It’s a common med problem, same thing can happen with taste, certain meds can dull or alter your taste. If it bothers you talk to your Dr or pharmacist.
